Worked Examples:
Worked examples are procedural steps on how to perform a task or solve a problem. Problem solving, strategic, and critical thinking skills are developed and utilized through step by step instruction used in worked examples. There are two types of modeled worked examples:
Modeled examples:
Cognitive
This model uses a person to demonstrate how to solve a problem.
Interpersonal
This model demonstrates the use of social skills to display knowledge of performing a task.
Examples of cognitive models are videos found on You Tube that describe step by step instruction on how to bake a pie, solve a math problem, or bungie jump.
Examples of interpersonal models are clips of an instructor or facilitator demonstrating how the scientific method is used in a lab, writing a persuasive essay or a debate on the right to bear arms.
